Underwater Luxury Cars
We are all looking for the most luxurious limousine on the road and the luxury car market is falling over itself to create the next limo which will turn heads and impress with its style, sophistication and uniqueness. But forget about looking on the roads, look under the water at the Lotus Elise which is the newest luxury car to follow in the dramatic footsteps of a bond car.
When Roger Moore’s Lotus Esprit helped him to escape the bad guys in The Spy Who Loved Me, it aroused the imagination of car lovers and car makers who wondered if it could really be done. Well the short answer is yes, and it has been done with the Esprit’s successor, the Elise.
Being exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show, the sQuba is the creation of concept car designer Frank Rinderknecht who spent three decades imagining how an underwater car could be made possible and says, ‘Now we have made this dream come true.’ Rinderknecht’s dream was to ‘do something everybody knows but nobody has tried’ and Frank and his dream have done it alright.
The petrol engine was first replaced with three electric motors, one to power the wheels and two for the specially designed propellers. The luxury underwater vehicle can reach 120 km/h on land and 6 km/h when cruising in boat mode and 3 km/h when ‘driving’ underwater. The unique Elise is also extremely green as it is a zero emissions vehicle powered by lithium-ion batteries.
The Elise has an open top so passengers breath similarly to scuba divers as enclosing the passenger cabin would severely affect the car’s mobility on land, plus an open cabin underwater is safer. The car runs underwater using just its propellers, so if they stop, the car automatically rises to the surface.
However, there are no plans to put the sQuba into production so once you have been inspired by the unique luxury car in Geneva, contact Limo Broker to find you the most unique limousine on land back in the UK.
